I looked at the date of my last post here and wondered why it has been so long since I last posted. Where has the time gone? Good question. I can explain part of it.  I love this community so I have missed being here but, somehow, it didn't seem as if so much time has passed.  I guess that's what happens when life gets in the way.

I'm the new behavior columnist for Dogs in Canada magazine and to that end, I had a tight deadline on my first two columns even though they will run every other month. The first one had to be done over the holidays and that meant tracking down a veterinary behaviorist who wouldn't mind taking a few minutes for me while in the middle of a holiday.  I prefer to quote other experts and not simply express my own opinion. I think it's important to do that. It's a personal choice.

For those following my Fibromyalgia odyssey, the addition of two more doctors has come into play in the past month as has the addition of a new medication and tweaking of one I'd used before. Balancing medication is important and I can begin to see (or, more correctly, feel) an improvement. Yes, there's room for further improvement, I think, but this is a start and a step forward. That's a good thing.

There's enough written about fibromyalgia so there's no need to add my journey to it. I'm not about to try to pitch a book on the subject. But blogging about it once in awhile isn't bad. It helps me gather my thoughts, put the entire situation into perspective.

I'm helping my friend, Kari, in Albuquerque get donations for the Dog Ball to help support the shelters. I've sent a signed copy of one of my books, Small Dogs, Big Hearts, for the silent auction and have been asking other authors to do the same as well as artists, or someone with services to offer. The internet has allowed me the freedom to do that, to contact people all over the country.  The Ball is March 28th and all donations of items for auction are welcome.

I'm having a hard time seeing the forest for the trees when it comes to the fund I started in my mother's memory. I need to find ways to fundraise. That's not easy in this economy.

So, here I am. Rambling. But here. Hopefully, I'll get back up to speed and be here more often. I won't let so much time elapse even if it did happen inadvertantly.  I'll try to pay more attention to the passage of time.

Great to hear from you, Darlene and to discover that you are feeling some improvement. Redroom and the Doggy World hope you'll soon be in fine fettle. As you say, balancing medication is crucial, as has been the case with my heart drugs. On a new regime, both health and outlook are improving. What I can't fathom is the way time seems to speed up - and Heaven knows it's fast enough anyway! - when one engages less with the human race.
Jack's advice is to paws for a break now and then, even if you think, just at that point, you don't need one. It's how he keeps bright-eyed and bushy tailed. If your nose is cool and moist, you're on the right track!

It's so good to "see" you again, Rosy! Thank you!!!

Life seems to be a high-speed time machine.  LOL  I hope you're feeling well!

Thanks for the update!

Darlene, it's good to see you post here. I think another reason why it doesn't like seem soooo much time has passed is that you're such an important part of Red Room. You know how with some close friends and family, you won't see each other for a long time, but when you finally do get together it's like no time has passed? Like that.

That's a Very Good Point, Huntington!

Thank you!  Yes, this is very much a place that feels like "home" to me -  a loving, caring home. And thanks for saying that I'm an important part of Red Room. That puts me in celebrated company. :-)  I'm so happy to be accepted here, to find a home, to feel comfortable about sharing here.

It's funny, I really don't talk much about my fibro. I don't dwell on it. It's there and I'm learning to deal with it but I feel comfortable talking about it here. Perhaps someone reading has fibro and will feel less alone, will know that it's pretty common and it's also very personal in that no two cases are precisely the same so you just find what works for you and get on with things. :-)

Red Room is always close in my heart. I feel a connection here. Thanks to everyone for making me feel so much at home.

By the way, Darlene, did you notice you've become a teaching tool? Connections!
