Racism and Karaoke: Two SF Shows to See

I do the occasional solo performance around town, and as a result I've been fortunate enough to sometimes hang out with the cool kids, the W. Kamau Bell crowd.

Kamau, the hottest thing in comedian/solo stuff around, is everywhere these days. Featured in the SF Chronicle and Bay Guardian. Named 2008 Bay Area Comedian of the Year by the San Francisco Weekly. Performing at the Punchline.

AND, in the show you have to see (I laughed, I cried, I promise a topical, hysterical and provocative evening), he's doing his own solo show, The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Racism in About an Hour at the Climate Theater weekends until December 13.

Bring a friend of another race and your friend gets in free.

But that's not all!

My buddy Enzo Lombard, who I know from Kamau's classes (yes, I'm a Kamau groupee) is performing his OWN amazing show, Love Humiliation and Karaoke:

Wanna hear some crazy stories?
A desperate man drives 600 miles to meet a stranger from the internet in a fast-food parking lot.
A Filipino transvestite’s new karaoke machine tortures her Tenderloin neighbors.
A nervous groom checks out his best friend’s new genitals while wedding guests bake in an unseasonably warm day.

At the SHELTON STAGEWERX, THURSDAYS @ 8p December 4th, 11th, 18th and beyond.

I've seen selections of Enzo's show -- and I am awed and impressed and always deeply entertained. Enzo rocks. I'm ready for the whole enchilada.  Join me across the street at the literary Hotel Rex first for a glass of wine in their lobby bar before the show on December 4th.

Pump Up The Volume

I'm wondering if one performs racism karaoke in black face.
