Pedometer geek and books, books, and more books..
Fearing that I wouldn't have any more library books to read, I stopped at the library on the way home from our daily walk to the post office. Weather permitting, my husband and I usually walk to the post office and other various places around town. It makes the pedometer geek in me happy for one thing.
I know that I will finish up Love in the Present Tense today; it is a compelling story (I wasn't sure at first). It is my library book group book chosen for the month of July. Although I have a couple of books to read (Phoenix: Firestorm and Landscapes with Fragmented Faces), I also have a deadline of July 22nd to read six library books. The funny thing is that I will read those two but they won't count for the Summer Reading Program at the local library. It shouldn't matter what books I read. The whole point is to read! I would do that even if I had no compelling reason, but I am also competitive enough that I hate to fail any challenge like this. And, to me, it is a challenge. Silly, isn't it?
I picked two more books up on the walk home. Once again, I tried to pick an author that I had never read before rather than an old favorite. Thus, I now have Ann B. Ross' Miss Julia Speaks her Mind (the first in a series) and Warren Adler's Mourning Glory novels to read. I chose the first because I saw that there was a new Miss Julia... on the new releases shelf and I figured I might as well start at the beginning of the series rather than jumping to the end. The other novel by Adler, I chose for the title alone. You see, my dad calls me "Morning Glory" or perhaps he just says "Morning, Glory"...it doesn't matter which; he knows how to make me feel special whether he realizes it or not.
