Dancing again!

May 15, 2009, 8:32 pm

I think I was a Border collie in my previous life...or maybe a terrier. Once I get hooked on something, I get hooked!

I went to a Friday night social this evening at the ballroom dancing studio (www.classicballroom.com) and while I was very nervous about going, I am glad I did. It is obvious to me that I still only know the basic steps of a few dances, but I saw some moves by the other students that I really want to learn. I especially love the "kitchy" moves for the tango. I think they are way kewl! For some bizarre reason they remind me of the old TV show The Addams Family. I have no idea why.

The instructors were all there so I wasn't a complete wall flower and they were all very kind. In fact, everyone was really, really nice. When I was dancing with shorter men, I was actually able to keep my head level and not look down (except for the Cha-cha. I just don't like that dance for some reason. It annoys me). Colin gave me a great compliment - long story short (no pun intended to my 5 foot self and his 6 feet), I had mentioned that I am 53 and he was shocked - he thought I was 40! Gotta love that kid!

I truly have no idea what my point is here. I am just pumped about dancing and wanted to share that if anyone is looking for a new hobby, or something fun to try - try ballrom dancing!
