The Latest Scoop from Ann Wilkes

I sold my second flash (under 1K words) piece to Every Day Fiction this month. In "Your Smiling Face" a woman is haunted by her boyfriend, or is she? "Jolaneering" was published at the beginning of September at Nanobison.com. Imagine you have to babysit a two-year-old with an attitude. Now imagine she's a changling.
I also just sold two non-sf pieces to anthologies. One is a two-for. The true story of finding my sister, entitled "The Rosary", will appear in Vintage Voices: Four Part Harmony available this month and a Fate anthology. The other is a story I especially enjoyed writing as it was about another of my passions. Bull riding. As a spectator, of course. ;) "Bullheaded" was sold to This Ain't No Rodeo, the proceeds from which will go to the Resistol Relief Fund to help injured riders.
On the Awesome Lavratt front: AL is going into a limited trade edition--yet another phase before it comes out in all its glory early 2009. I have lots of great blurbs and reviews for the back cover, some of which will appear in the trade edition. Very exciting!

In the Works...
I'm working on a sequel to Awesome Lavratt. No title yet. But Horace is the man! The Askaran makes a return, as does, oh well, I better not say, in case you haven't read AL yet. I also have a couple novels that I'm working on. One needs a rewrite and the other is in its infancy. I keep getting distracted with writing the short stuff that is so much fun. But, alas, the short stuff doesn't pay the bills.
Conventions
I was a guest at BayCon in San Jose and SpoCon in Spokane, WA. I'm invited to OryCon in Portland OR November 2008 and Houston's ConJour in January 2009. I'm angling for spots at LosCon in LA and Norwescon in Seattle. Feel free to tell them you want to see me there. ;)
