The golden rays of fire ripple o’er the earth.
Petals of the red rose softly fall away.
Paradise is lost to all who wish to drink of its river.
The good man bows his head in prayer.
Calloused hands grasping blades of grass in a bittersweet agony,
Blinded eyes and sunburned flesh, he licks his arid lips in hope for mercy.
The life has vanished from the dry forests.
Time has washed away the evil leaving few behind to struggle with pain and sorrow.
Loss of goodness brings no shade to the weary man where he rests beneath the barren
Branches of an oak tree.
A cool wind sweeps o’er the once sweltering land carrying his last breath with it.
Unfertile fields of dust are all that remain.
There’s no one now, who can remember,
The day without rain.
