Change of Image

The image reflecting back at me
I rarely look, I’m afraid to see
The lines I know are there for sure
Deep grooves across my brow, hmmm mmmr

The corners of my eyes and mouth
Have had their lines a long time now
Yet inside I feel like the wrinkle free
Young woman of say twenty-three

So changed my attitude about this image
And now I celebrate all those days of living
Between the flawless skin of twenty-three
And the beauty of every line that says I’m me.

Between Standing In Line

Lines at the grocery store or anyplace
We complain as if it is such a waste
A waste of our very precious time
Our time between standing in line

What do we do with our precious command?
We hurry and speed to the next demand
That awful demand of our precious time
Our valuable time between standing in line

There is a simple answer to this blight
Why not make standing in line a delight
To the guy behind, just say hi there, hello
And as well, to his two little toddlers in tow

To the teenager in front one might inquire;
Does music sound real on that tiny little wire?
Any subject will do to convey that we know
A higher vibration is really running the show
And that people are worthy of our precious time
Our valuable time while we’re standing in line

The Space Between

How impotent these lines of words to say
When even a finite image I struggle to convey
And how then dare I even try to tell
The story that I know within so well

The story of the space between
The story of everything unseen
These lines of letters – their content
Cannot reveal a fraction of the infinite

Yet I must obey this compelling urge
With every word I write - I try to purge
The space I need to define and thus to fill
The emptiness I find within and then be still
And hope for even a moment’s thrill
to know creation as the space I fill.

Laura Hawke

Laura Hawke says:

Beautiful...

enlightened and encouraging thoughts expressed within your poems.

I have been on this path, attempting to "seize the moment," revere the now.  Sometimes, I am successful and other times not.

But reading such thoughts helps me to continue on the path I choose for myself...to love the moment, the people within the moment and what's happening therein.

 Thank you!
