Biography

Caroline Leavitt's 9th novel Breathe, will be published by Algonquin Books in 2010. She is the award-winning author of eight novels: Meeting Rozzy Halfway, Lifelines, Jealousies, Family, Into Thin Air, Living Other Lives, Coming Back to Me and Girls in Trouble, which was a Booksense Pick, a Detroit Free Press book club selection, and is in its third printing. She is the recipient of a New York Foundation of the Arts Award in Fiction, a second prize winner in the Goldenberg Fiction Awards, a finalist in the Nickelodeon Screenwriting Fellowship and so far (!) a quarter finalist in the Fade In/Writer's Net Screenplay Awards.

She writes book columns at both The Boston Globe and Dame Magazine, and reviews books for People and movies for More magazine. She is a senior writing instructor at UCLA online and also does freelance editing and manuscript consultations. Her work has appeared in New York Magazine, Psychology Today, Salon.com, Redbook, The Washington Post, and dozens of anthologies. She lives in New York City's unofficial 6th borough, Hoboken, New Jersey, with her husband, the writer Jeff Tamarkin and their fantastic young son Max.
