Char Solomon

Biography

I was born in Chicago but lived many places growing up as the daughter of a Navy Chaplain. My passion for music led me in many directions, all of which, of course, affects my writing today. My first book, Tatiana Proskouriakoff: Interpreting the Ancient Maya, is a biography of a leading Maya archaeologist. It was a natural subject for me to take on, as I've always been drawn to stories of people who make outstanding contributions to their fields. Several magazine articles about the same woman have followed. Another, in the April 2008  issue of Our State magazine is about an 85-year-old woman marathon runner.
