Gregory Frost

Biography

GREGORY FROST "could be on his way toward a masterpiece” with his latest novel, SHADOWBRIDGE, (Del Rey, January 15, 2008) according to Gary K. Wolfe in Locus Magazine. Booklist concurred in a starred review. And Publisher’s Weekly (also in a starred review) called his short story collection Attack of the Jazz Giants & Other Stories, (Golden Gryphon Press, 2005) “one of the best fantasy collections of the year." It includes both the much-award-nominated “Madonna of the Maquiladora,” and the first Shadowbridge story, “How Meersh the Bedeviler Lost His Toes.”

Mr. Frost has been a finalist for the James Tiptree Award, Nebula Award, Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award, World Fantasy Award, Hugo Award, and even the International Horror Guild Award.

His previous novel, FITCHER’S BRIDES, (Tor Books), was a recasting of the fairy tale of Bluebeard upon the landscape of 19th century New York. Gavin Grant, in Bookpage, said of it: “The novel is suspenseful, spooky and hard to put down… Frost’s finely detailed chiller will stay with the reader for a long time.” Fitcher's Brides was a World Fantasy Award Finalist for Best Novel.

Mr. Frost has been writing and publishing fiction for twenty-five years. His first novel, LYREC, reached best-seller status on the B. Dalton's sf/fantasy list. He was the lead-off instructor for the Clarion Writing Workshop program in 2007 at UC San Diego, and is the current Fiction Writing Workshop Director at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA.
