Kathy Briccetti

Biography

Kathy Briccetti's essays and book reviews have been published in literary magazines, newspapers and anthologies. Her first memoir, the story of searching for her place in her family's three generations of adoption and absent fathers, will be published in spring 2010. It reads like a literary mystery, says one fan of the manuscript. Gorgeous prose, says another. Excerpts from the manuscript have been published in The San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, Dos Passos Review, flashquake.org, Unbound press, HERSTORY (Adams Media), THE ESSENTIAL HIP MAMA (Seal Press), and THE MATERNAL IS POLITICAL (Seal Press). An excerpt was nominated for a Pushcart prize in 2007.

Kathy is currently working on a second memoir, A BUSWOMAN'S HOLIDAY, about working as a school psychologist with children on the autism spectrum while raising a child with Asperger's Syndrome. An excerpt from this manuscript was published in Teacher Magazine, and another will appear in the 2009 anthology, MY BABY RIDES THE SHORT BUS.  Another will appear in the literary magazine, Sojourn, later this year.

She is also writing a novel based on an event that occurred in South Dakota in 1968. She will be in residence at the Vermont Studio Center in July, 2009.
