I was born in Brooklyn (wasn't everyone?), lived in Atlanta for 17 years, and now reside betwixt the ghosts and the sea in Savannah, GA. I teach advanced English and Creative Writing at a public (formerly charter) Arts Academy, paint and make folk art, garden, meditate and write .
I wrote and illustrated my first novel, The World Through A Tinted-Glass Window, on looseleaf paper when I was eleven. The critic (my friend Eddie) phoned me in tears after reading it. "Mona, I loved it," he said. (My nom de plume was Mona Blaise.) That was all the readership I required, and all I had until, years later, my then ten year-old daughter came upon the ms. and wanted to read it. Unfortunately, she reacted less positively, vomiting her chicken and pasta dinner all over the first two pages, which have thus been lost.
daughter, son, grandson--one of each; each one brilliant, beautiful and a blessing.
