Biography After stints as a manual laborer, dishwasher, bartender, restaurant manager, commercial photographer, magazine editor and public relations executive, Michael W. Sherer decided life should imitate art and became a freelance writer like his series character Emerson Ward. A member of Mystery Writers of America and the Authors Guild, Mike has published five novels in the Emerson Ward mystery series and a stand-alone thriller, Island Life.  He also writes articles for a number of trade magazines specializing in food and beverage, and is a certified food safety instructor.
