I was born on February 26, 1970 in Newport Beach, California and raised in Orange County. While navigating (badly) through a sea of teen angst I was shipped off to reform school, an experience that inspired my first book, Reform at Victory (published in 2008).
I hold diverse interests when it comes to reading. I have read and enjoyed offerings from David Sedaris, Julia Scheers, Linda Carroll, Amy Sedaris, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, JK Rowling, Sam Harris, CS Lewis, Charles Darwin, Christine de Pisan, Gloria Fiero, Voltaire, Montaigne, Mary Wollstonecraft, George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, Charles Dickens and Emily Dickinson.
The funniest book I have ever read is Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. I read it cover to cover while in bed with the flu. I laughed so hard I thought I cracked a rib and I became concerned for my own safety.
I just finished reading The Bright Side, written by Red Room Author Max Sindell. It's about surviving and coping with your parent's divorce, which he did as a boy. It's a great read. He uses a direct and compassionate voice to reach his young readers, and it works.
