Michelle Richmond is the author of the New York Times and international bestseller The Year of Fog, which was a Kirkus Reviews top pick for reading groups, one of Library Journal's Best Books of 2007, a Washington Post A-List selection, and a San Francisco Chronicle Notable book. The Year of Fog has been published in ten languages and is currently in pre-production with Newmarket Films.
Michelle's most recent novel, NO ONE YOU KNOW, is now out in paperback and will soon be available in six additional languages. Her previous books are the story collection The Girl in the Fall-Away Dress, which won the Associated Writing Programs Award, and the novel Dream of the Blue Room, which will be released by Random House next year in a new paperback edition. Her stories and essays have appeared in Glimmer Train, Playboy, Oxford American, The Believer, Salon.com, The Kenyon Review, The Missouri Review, and elsewhere. She received the 2009 Hillsdale Award for Fiction from the Fellowship of Southern Writers and the 2006 Mississippi Review Fiction Prize.
Michelle holds an MFA from the University of Miami, where she was a James Michener Fellow. Having spent a number of years teaching creative writing in MFA programs in the Bay Area, she now writes full-time. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Michelle lives with her husband and son in San Francisco.
