Nona Caspers

Biography Nona Caspers's recent book of stories HEAVIER THAN AIR was awarded the Grace Paley Prize in Short Fiction and was an Editors' Choice in the New York Times Book Review. "darkly funny, compassionate and unsentimental" said Booklist and "pungent" and "artful" notes San Francisco Chronicle. She lives in San Francisco and her next book, A Little Book of Days, (forthcoming from Spuyten Duyvil Press, NY) tracks her days, dreams and desires in the city. Her work has been honored with a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, an Iowa Fiction Award and a Joseph Henry Jackson Literary Grant and Award, a LAMBDA award nomination among others. She teaches creative writing at San Francisco State University

  • HEAVIER THAN AIR has just been released in paperback (yeah) and A LITTLE BOOK OF DAYS will be coming out in 2008 -- that one a creative-nonfiction story in one-hundred days (and one-hundred pages). Arctic ground squirrels and grief.

  • I teach at San Francisco State University in the Creative Writing program as Associate Professor and I love it (most of the time)
