Born in Greenwood, SC, Scott Owens now lives in Hickory, NC, where he coordinates the Poetry Hickory reading series and Writers' Night Out (5:00 second Tuesdays of each month at Taste Full Beans Coffeehouse), co-edits Wild Goose Poetry Review, writes the weekly poetry column, "Musings" (archived at www.scottowensmusings.blogspot.com), in Outlook, and is Regional Representative for the North Carolina Writers' Network and Vice President of the Poetry Council of North Carolina. He holds degrees from Ohio University, UNC-Charlotte, and UNC-Greensboro. He is the author of Paternity (forthcoming from Main Street Rag), The Fractured World (Main Street Rag, 2008), and three chapbooks of poetry, The Persistence of Faith (Sandstone, 1993), Deceptively Like a Sound (Dead Mule, 2008), and The Book of Days (Dead Mule, 2009). He teaches English and creative writing at Catawba Valley Community College and has published more than 500 poems in journals including Georgia Review, North American Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, Hayden's Ferry Review, Cream City Review, and The Pedestal.  His work has received awards from the Academy of American Poets, the NC Writers' Network, the NC Poetry Society and the Poetry Society of SC, and been nominated for 2 Pushcart Prizes and a Best of the Net Award, and read recently by Garrison Keillor on The Writer's Almanac.
