Shaindel Rebekah Beers

Biography Shaindel Beers’ poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. She is currently an instructor of English at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon, in Eastern Oregon’s high desert and serves as Poetry Editor of Contrary (www.contrarymagazine.com). She hosts the talk radio poetry show Translated By, which can be found at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/onword.

Upcoming Works

  • My first full-length poetry collection, A Brief History of Time, has just been released by Salt Publishing. I am at work on my second collection for Salt, The Children's War.

    I have work forthcoming in Permafrost, the literary journal of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and I frequently review books for Contrary (www.contrarymagazine.com), where I am the Poetry Editor.

Relationship

  • Shaindel is happily married to Lee Herman, who owns and operates Lee Herman Construction. Together, they enjoy camping, fishing, and the outdoors, as well as making fun of magazine covers in doctors' offices, and attending local arts events in Eastern Oregon and Washington.
