  • So I won!

    November 30, 2008

    • I did NaNoWriMo this year, like last year. And like last year, things did not go to plan. However, unlike last year, I somehow won! w00t! I haven't 'finished', by any means, but I made it to 50,000 and thats more and a good enough start for my 'novel'. I'm used to doing screenplays and shorts, so it was quite the slog and the bulk of it probably sucks, but its out there: plucked from the ...
  • Reflections: Post Nanowrimo

    November 30, 2008

    • After being behind the ENTIRE month, I finished last night, almost 24 hours early. Final count - 50,224. This might have been both the most difficult and the easiest Nano I've done so far (this was number 4). Because of a huge amount of work in October, all of which I wanted to have out of the way and off the desk, symbolically and literally, November 1st, I was overwhelmed and undermotivated ...
  • Number four feels just as great as the first!

  • NaNoWriMo 2008 - the easiest one I ever did.

    November 30, 2008

    • I did it!In fact, I did it early! The past two attempts at Nanowrimo were a little less successful - that is, I still won, but generally on the last day I had to get going and write at least seven thousand words. Every time, I'd just scrape through. Not this time. I finished on November 25th and was one of the first fifty winners. Hooray!

  • NaNoWriMo

    November 30, 2008

    • This if my first year doing NaNoWriMo. I've always had trouble in the past writing anything of any length(my longest manuscript being just over 30K) so I thought it would be a good way to make myself get more done. What I thought would be a 50K novel has evolved into a 120K novel. It's historical ficiton--which I'm a HUGE fan of, but I've learned that it's tough to write during NaNo. More than ...

    November 30, 2008

    • As of Thanksgiving morning I completed my novel for NaNoWriMo 2008. It was an emotional end to an exhilerating month and I'm so grateful I stumbled upon Chris Baty's "No Plot? No Problem" on October 28. With the fire of NaNoWriMo still burning inside, I'm excited to start the edit/rewrite process!
  • Completing NaNoWriMo

    November 30, 2008

    • It's a little late to get on this road, I suppose, but why not celebrate the fact that for the first time, I won NaNoWriMo! It's only been the second year that I have tried this, but still, it's a major accomplishment. I wish that it had been a bit of an easier climb, but the satisfaction of completion is certainly worth it.
  • Day 30 of NaNoWriMo 2008

    November 30, 2008

    • I did it!  This morning I crossed the 50,000 word finish line of NaNoWriMo 2008, and it feels good!  My novel this year isn't finished, but it feels much more solid than last year's novel.  I'm giving myself the month of December to wrap it all up.  And now, off to download my winner goodies!
