- Last night I stumbled upon the news in a cinema blog that the Italian director Gianni Amelio is making a movie of Albert Camus's last and unfinished novel The First Man, shooting it in North Africa where Camus grew up. I have found a video clip of the lead, French actor Jacques Gamblin, who resembles Camus, who was good-looking in the Bogart mode. Will investigate further. View the blog at ...

- There's nothing better than readers' reactions to your books. That's the real stuff. A Rock 'N' Roll Soldier fan posted this awesome comment at www.RockNRollSoldierAMemoir.com, so thought I'd share: This book has the makings of one of the all time great Vietnam movies. What a story. Just the thought of blasting Rock and Roll through the Jungle in the 60s brings the story to life. If ...

- With the sharing of art, words, ideas, dreams, telepathic experiences, deep connections, and more, during this past week, the movie that comes to me is, “What Dreams May Come” based on the book of the same title by Richard Matheson. I love this movie and am moved each time I see it. It’s simply a visual masterpiece. I read the book some years after seeing the movie. Usually, there ...

- Why do children play with dolls? One reason is that they like to make up stories and act them out. Dolls serve as permissible figures that allow children to become comfortable with who they, and others, are and to explore what this humanity might mean in an attempt to figure out how to inhabit it. They have not yet learned to hide their imaginations in some secret pocket or channel their ...

Just like that! Pull down their little sun, park it on my screen, and presto! I have a five minute only video. I can use free stock photography, free stock music, and my own collection of photography, ...

- Have you ever watched a movie and felt humbled? I try my best to be creative, put in all the major and minor details, make my books the best read ever for a reader. But then I read/watch something else and feel so out of my league that I wonder why I do it. This afternoon I saw District 9. The first half of the movie I sat on the edge of my seat waiting for whatever horrible thing was going to ...

- I love this new movie about Youssou N’Dour, the amazing Senegalese musician. I love all the concert footage, and also love just looking at the streets of Dakar, the colors, the clothes, the faces, the gestures, the courtyards where households gather, the look on Youssou’s grandmother face, the street art, Youssou leaning to talk with his son at the mosque. I appreciate what I learn about the ...

- Vampires have historically been considered evil, but fictionally they are currently not considered 100% bad. If you add a bit of trendy perversity, perhaps even martyrdom, to the mix you might get an instant hero, or the 20th century equivalent – the antihero. Antiheroes are the ultimate outcasts, and if they are self-loathing, that’s even better: the romantic, but evil, protagonist is ...
