Being swept up in the wave of Boosh and laughing all the way down to the bottom of the pond. If you haven't checked out the best thing in Brit comedy since Prince Charles illuminated his desire to be a tampon, do yourself a favor and get to the Boosh. The Mighty Boosh breaks the laugh basket. I'm planning a Boosh party in late March. Check out the Boosh on your google box, youtube or see castlenews.com for news on the Boosh party in San Francisco.

Boosting the Mighty Boosh

Alan I read interviews with the two guys, pretty wild couple. They are on DR 2 here in Denmark, which means cable or satellite --not terrestrial which is of course fitting with the nature of their show. I wonder if you might comment on the history of alternative humour in relation to PC. I mean there was a period when The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club was popular in the 1970's - and that awful comedian Bernard Manning was the King. Most of the jokes were racist, sexist and non PC. Then there was the PC revolution that brought about sensitivity and laws regarding discrimination and hatred. In this latter period "alternative comedy" grew and a form of satire blossomed - taking as its main target Thatcherism and Reagan. But what I noticed is that most of the humour was based on the classic blue and racist jokes and stopped short of the punch-line. In other words the non PC became implied rather than innuendo or explicit. So Stephen Fry and Ben Elton could take the "educated" audience as close as permissable to the unacceptable, then veer away. Now it seems certain events have allowed a return of the nonPC. Gangsta music and 9/11 for example. We have sexist and racist jokes as a consequence.
