Spent the evening playing poker with my senior officers - an enlightening experience, I must say -"Baby needs a new pair of shoes" - "Too rich for my blood", "Papa's got a brand new bag", "Four spondulicks beats a wandering sailor" - what the hell does all that mean, anyway? Nevertheless, it behooves me to enter into the spirit of the thing, ridiculous as it may seem, so I had the replicator spit me out a back-buckled sharkskin vest and a tinted PVC visor, the better to look the part and intimidate my fellow players - or "Johns" as I believe they were once referred to. I tried smoking a stogie, but my coughing ended up scattering an entire hand onto the floor, resulting in a "bum deal" call from Mr. Data - the fact that he had a Queen-high hand had nothing to do with that, I'm sure....One would think that a nice rubber of contract bridge would be more fitting for the senior officers of the Federation's flagship - but my suggestion was pooh-poohed by the assembled company, so I will have to defer to their wishes.....after all, we are not communists.....

Communists? Jeez, this Gene Luck Pickird guy is more boring than watching a movie of the Politburo visiting a tractor factory, if you want to know the truth of it. Very big deal. Bridge? - old Ackley used to play that with his decrepit gang of friends - it was like watching a train-wreck in slow-motion - I'm not kidding. This stuff just kills me...
