MADE MAN SEEKS REMAKING AFTER MAKING FINALIST IN SCRIPTAPALOOZA SCRIPT COMPETITION

February 15, 2008, 10:19 am

So I'm a little floored. Last summer I entered the Writers' Guild-sponsored Scriptapalooza Television Script competition, and yesterday I learned that my script, "The Vicious Circle," was picked by top agents etc. as one of the five finalists in the Original Pilot category, out of 843 script submissions by professional and non-professional writers. My script "The Vicious Circle," based on an oral history of the Chicago Mob in the sixties, is the very first script I've ever written for television. You can imagine how I feel.

Can anyone out there recommend or introduce me to a human film/television agent with Hollywood clout? I've got feature specs as well. One of them, a supernatural thriller entitled "Dibbuk," just got sensational feedback from Gordy Hoffman (brother of Philip Seymour Hoffman) who runs the Blue Cat Screenplay Competition. I entered it in Blue Cat's current competition, and Gordy's notes were so gushingly positive that they made my head spin. I made the tweaks I needed to make, and the script is going back to Blue Cat in time for their March 3 deadline for final submissions.

Does anyone have Tinkerbell's e-mail address? It's time I did something about this.

That's fabulous, Alexander!

You continue to amaze me with your multiple lives, all-over-the-world personal and cultural history and talent.  I used to be represented by Endeavor--alas, no longer.  My agent there screwed up so badly, he had to go to another continent to escape his embarrassment.  I hope someone will quickly give you "Tinkerbell's" email or phone number rather than Godzilla's.  Congratulations, my dear!!!  Very exciting.

Thank you Belle! I know

Thank you Belle! I know what you mean about the agent from hell from Endeavor. I've had them all from William Morris to little boutiquey flies on the Gucci wall. The best film agent I ever had is dead although I had nothing to do with it. Long story. It's a kind of rush to get to be a finalist for the TV script thing although between you and me I don't even own a television set. What a quagmire for the mind. Anyway I have a very small electron footprint. I'm only interested in the story. BTW, Belle, I received your two books from Amazon as well as the "Epileptic" graphic novel you recommended. I'm looking forward to reading them. Thanks again!

Alexander & the Script

I am sure you will make it - was it John Creasey who had 600 or so rejections then went onto become one of the most prolific writers ever. I like your Russian - Japanese background - I wrote something about a Russian short story writer in Tokyo... based on the novel Cynics by A. M. of the NEP period.
