Ana Elsner and Lawrence Ferlinghetti: two Poets, two Artists

...I have known Lawrence Ferlinghetti for many years and am familiar with his poetic voice as well as with his visual artistic expression. We are both poets and artists at the same time.

I recently had the honor of exhibiting my watercolor paintings alongside Lawrence's art works in a group show at Live Worms Gallery , a progressive San Francisco art gallery. Both he and I incorporate the written word in our paintings.
In my case these are mainly excerpts from my own poems, whereas Lawrence "paints out loud" in thought provoking phrases or words on canvas.

Poetry often gives rise to visual renditions within the creative spirit of any one poet. Both spring from the same passion.
