I Joined National Novel Writining Month (NaNoWriMo 2008)

I'm a first time NaNoWriMo participant, a "newbie".  But, I'm lucky enough to have been "adopted" by a veteran of the NaNo craziness.  I had so many questions at first and I'm sure I'll have so many more.  50,000 words in 30 days is an amazing challenge, and that's exactly what I signed up for!  What's really amazing is how much I've gotten into it.  I already have 28, 015 words as of yesterday.  I haven't started writing yet today and I'm getting a little antsy about it.  LOL.   Right now I'm slogging through the real action of the novel.  This is the hard part for me.  I'm used to surgical strikes, so to speak, in my short stories, but now I have to really flesh out the scenes and the conflict.  Also, there have to be multiple conflicts.  I'm learning so much.  If it weren't for my characters I wouldn't have made it this far.  They seem to know where we're going.  I have an outline each day, but the characters really take over and run the show.  It makes me wonder who's really writing the book sometimes. :D  Anyway, I've got to get back to the trenches and get my people out of their current dilema.  It's a nasty one.

Here's my progress widget.  It updates as I add words.

Unfortunately my cover art is too big for this blog format and gets cut in half.  If you'd like to view it, please go to  http://artisticminds.ning.com/profile/TraceyW and scroll down just a bit.  You can't miss it.  My kids helped me out with it.  They were great.  Especially my son.  Wait til you see his performance!
