First newspaper review for Accordion Dreams in New Orleans Times-Picayune

April 7, 2009, 9:40 pm

Earlier today, I  was thrilled to discover the first newspaper review for Accordion Dreams.

The review is by  New Orleans Times-Picayune book editor Susan Larson.  It's a wonderful review, and It comes at an ideal time, just as I get ready for a week long book tour in Louisiana.  (It starts on Monday, at  Octavia Books in New Orleans.)

The review is here.

When I discovered it, I was sitting in an Internet cafe, on a break at work.  I felt like flying--or maybe two-stepping.  But it would have looked a little strange.  So I sent a few few e-mails.  I was smiling for the rest of the day.  I can't think of a better place for my first real review:  New Orleans, the place where my story began.

Congratulations!

What a happy moment for you, Blair. Good for you! And what a great place to get your inaugural review (love the Times-Picayune) and what a great city to do some celebrating.

I hope it all goes better than you expect and your book proves a great success.

Best,

Chris R.

A happy accidental discovery! I hope you bought something extra and indulgent at the cafe to celebrate.

Thanks, Chris and

Thanks, Chris and Kristen!

Yes, the review made me feel much more confident about the upcoming trip to Louisiana.

And I did indulge yesterday, though not at the cafe. At the end of the day, I stopped and bought a new (used) travel book about New Orleans and then treated myself to the most decadent hot chocolate I have ever tasted! (Italian-style, at a gelato place.) Then, in the evening my husband opened some champagne (well, the equivalent!) He made a great Cajun-style dinner.

(Today, I'm a little the worse for wear...but it was worth celebrating anyway!)

Thanks again!
