I went into Black Oak this morning to talk to the new owner, Gary Cornell about having our annual PEN Freedom to Write event which always has a wide appeal. After explaining that it wasn't clear how long the renovations would take, and pointing out the new ecologically friendly lights, Gary,himself an author, assured me that the bookstore would continue to be a literary bookstore and a center for the community. They are ordering ten thousand new books and also plan to have a presence on the internet so people can order on-line.Those of you who were holding your breath about their future can relax a little. And of course I told them to check out redroom.
