Sundry Thoughts on a Sunday Morning
It's a holiday weekend so there's a part of my brain that tells me I shouldn't be doing the ordinary, but rather should be kicking back all weekend while in some way honoring those who fight for our country. Will writing this blog as a form of free speech work?
Here on Long Island we've gotten several days of uninterrupted sun, although right now it appears that clouds are moving in. Perhaps, before any possible rain, I should abandon my computer and rush outside to finish up what I'd started earlier this week-namely, getting the outside ready for summer. I've been clearing out the two-car garage from stuff that was piled high in there last October from my incomprehensible move "back home." (You may read about it here: www.huffingtonpost.com/carol-hoenig/getting-back-home-an-upda_b_103766.h... - 80k -) However, if it rains it's not as though I don't have a to-do list for inside. Yet, I'd be just as happy sitting on my porch and continuing reading Bart D. Ehrman's Jesus, Interrupted, a fascinating, enlightening book that challenges the Bible's infallibility. There's also the nagging voice that tells me to keep plugging away on my memoir, which I'm sure I'll make some time for later today. Or at least I'm planning to.
I'm still in my pajamas, having already read the New York Times; the world is continuing in its free fall. I was sadly amused with an article about Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol Palin's baby. The Palin-Johnston families are a train wreck, but no more so than most families. Yet, Sarah Palin tried to mold this young man, who does not have a high school degree, and her daughter for photo ops while she was campaigning to be VP to make them look as though they were righting their wrong. How unfortunate that so many believed the lie as a way to dupe the country. How fortunate that voters wanted a change.
Well, after two cups of very strong, black coffee and tapping away here at the keyboard, it's time to put my day in gear. Besides, I think I see the sun once again peeking out from behind those clouds. ‘til tomorrow.
