Sailing After the Whales

March 3, 2008, 6:05 pm

My first travel feature covered the front page of the Riverside Press-Enterprise's travel section yesterday. They didn't use my fluke shot in the centerpiece, somewhat disappointing, but the shot they used was much more vivid. My shot appears with the jump to page 3.

It's been a while since I've seen my byline on newsprint. Feels pretty good. The PE placed the story online also. Here's the link: Southern California cruises prepare for whale-watching adventures.

Next week's story is a tribute to Route 66, The Eagles, and the animated film Cars. Where else, but Winslow, AZ?

Don't forget Winona

Of course, you have me humming: "Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino..."

What is it about having your name on a story that gives such an easy thrill? It's always been true, no? Congratulations.

Getting my kicks

Oh, too true.

I don't know how many times I heard That Song when I was a kid growing up in the shadow of Route 66. I'm off now to turn on my oldies station.
