Independence Day in San Francisco
Independence Day in San Francisco
Independence Day in San Francisco
Lit by melancholy moonlight
Brilliant explosions in the fog
Of red, blue and white
Thousands of spectators
Line the chilly bayside
Bundled up in warm clothing
Looking up towards the night
In the center of the crowd
There's a young boy asleep
Despite the thunderous roars
Of the repeated rocket flights
His parents brought him down
To experience the celebration
But insofar the moment
Has failed to excite
July Fourth in my home town
And in less than an hour
The Bay Bridge will be packed
With eastbound taillights
Independence Day in San Francisco
Another holiday gone by
A memory that will last
For about as long as tonight
