Just got some news about my new book, Forever L. A.: A Field Guide to Los Angeles Area Cemeteries and Their Residents (Spring 2010). I just got the cover this week. The publisher is ready to send it to the printer as soon as they bury (inter) Michael Jackson so I can add that info to his bio. He is supposed to be laid to rest on September 3rd, but you never know for sure until it happens.
I made a last minute addition to Marilyn Monroe's bio today, since an eBay auction for the crypt above her ended on Monday. The winning bid was 4.6 million, but the winning bidder bowed out. The seller of the crypt is currently in process of contacting the 11 people who bid higher than 4.5 million.
Editor's Note: We're attaching a buy box to Doug's first book about cemeteries, Stories in Stone: A Field Guide to Cemetery Symbolism and Iconography (Gibbs Smith, 2004), about which Sunset magazine said, "Keister has done for cemetery exploration what Audubon did for birding."
