I need your stories: looking for your favorite small acts of kindness. In return, we'll donate to your favorite charity
I'm excited to join Redroom and to meet all of you. I'm a longtime business journalist with an interest in philanthropy. I'm coauthoring a book called "Small Acts: How You Can Change the World Five Minute at a Time." The book will provide readers with inspiration in the form of stories about people who have taken small steps to make the world a better place – to make one child less hungry, to reduce their own carbon footprint, to put a smile on an elderly person’s face or to provide a home to a homeless animal.
We're also including stories of small acts from well-known people in all walks of life - but particularly from other authors. If you'd like to be included in our book, please send me one or two lines about an act of kindness that you've admired. What was it, who did it and why do you admire it? Alternatively, please drop me a line about one small step you have taken to make your world a better place and why it felt rewarding.
The categories can range from small acts for your children, your family and friends, for your community or for the world around you. Any small act you can share is meaningful, even if you feel that some other people already know it.
If we use your story, we'll donate to your favorite charity.
In addition, 100% of the profits from the sales of this book will go to the Small Act Foundation, which performs small acts of kindness at important times and places for those in need. The Small Act Foundation brings stuffed animals to children’s cancer centers, provides holiday gifts for orphans, delivers hot meals to the hungry, etc. This foundation is run by my co-author, Casey Golden, who is passionate about the philosophy of small acts. He has also started a social venture (www.SmallAct.com) to help fund charities and causes through a network of small acts that everyone can do on a daily basis.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
