- I've just returned from a phenomenal three week book tour for DIRTY WORDS: A LITERARY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF SEX. I'll blog about that over the weekend but wanted to link to a guest blog I just did for The Debutante's Ball (a great website). Here's my post about Patriotism: a dirty word? I'll also post the latest amazing review from NPR! check it out under reviews. I'll write about the tour -- and ...

- Today's is Readerville's 8th birthday -- and I wanted to thank Karen Templer for creating a wonderful writers and readers community online. I joined Readerville about 5 or 6 years ago, a year before the publication of my novel, ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS. Books started appearing in bookstores over the past week and I had my first sighting at Keplers (my local independent book store) on Saturday. I took pictures of my book on the ...

- I've got a new guest blog up at a writer pal's website. Meg Waite Clayton started a blog about first novels, in the hope that we published writers would debunk the myth of the overnight success. Hey, I'm a poster child for that one. Worked long and hard for many years before my first novel was published. So I tell my story here: my wild ride.

- My book hits the shelves in one week. I'm feeling great when I'm not feeling terrified. So far the press has been incredible -- lots of attention from most of the big magazines including Elle, Nylon, O Magazine, Self, Playboy, Penthouse. A copy of the book -- DIRTY WORDS: A LITERARY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF SEX -- has already landed in my hands and it's gorgeous. At some point last week I made the ...

- I've sworn I wouldn't do it. I feel like I'm stepping into dangerous territory -- blogdom. If I start, will it suck up all my time and energy and good stories and bad attitude and half-way decent lines? Will I be able to say to myself, that's enough blogging for the day -- now go and WRITE. Not that blogging, isn't writing, but it isn't WRITING. And I'm a very disciplined writer -- that's what I ...

- There’s still a little part of me that takes delight in shaking things up. There’s an inner child, a bad girl that wants to get out and have a good time.
