Blue Porsche Boxster S - The Prize

Several months ago I received an e-mail from a guy named Oliver Luke in Vernon B.C. who claimed to be a fan of my books.

Oliver said that in the near future he wanted to fly to Edmonton where I live to buy me dinner.

I agreed but I didn't think he would actually do this.

Unlike the vast majority in society, Oliver kept his word and actually spent money on an airfare to come to Edmonton to buy me dinner.

Oliver and I had a great time at the Sugarbowl, where we were joined by my friend Kashia Litner and her friend.

I found out that Oliver is a ghost writer besides having just written a book called Money Magic.

Since then, Oliver and I found out by e-mail messages that both of us want a blue Porsche Boxster.

So, we have made a bet about who will get a blue Porsche Boxster first.

I have made this bet on the basis that I cannot buy one with money I have in the bank given that I could buy 2 or 3 Porsche Boxsters for cash if I utilize the funds in my retirement savings plan and my financial independence bank account.

The money must come from my new projects and books including my inspirational novel Look Ma; Life's Easy and my gift book The Joy of Being Retired: 365 Reasons Why Retirement Rocks (and Work Sucks).

Oliver and I are meeting in late October in Las Vegas to take Rick Frishman's two-day Author 101 University seminar and charge ourselves with knowledge and inspiration about creating new books, book marketing, and internet marketing.

One of the speakers I am l looking forward to learning a lot from at Author 101 University is Tom Antion, an internet marketing guru, who earns between $75,000 and 200,000 a month working from his home office. What I love about Tom Antion is that he intentionally makes his websites just a little bit ugly to prove that his $100 websites will outsell the million-dollar websites (designed by high-priced graphic designers who have never made one cent marketing on the Internet) every day of the year. I love hanging around people such as Tom who get results.

Oliver wants to have his Boxster by Labor Day 2011. This means I must generate $35,000 in my separate Blue Porsche Boxster S bank account in less than two years if I want to win this bet.

It's time to upgrade from my 1974 MGB (shown below) which I have had since 1976. It's a great car but a blue Porsche Boxster S turns me on more.

So I am taking this bet as serious as Oliver.

Besides meeting in Las Vegas for Author 101 University, we plan to meet at Book Expo in New York next May, and in Banff once we both get our blue Porsche Boxster S's.
