[Continued from previous blog] 

Three days of recording in the books. I am happy to report the completion of six demos, and some ideas may have sprouted for a couple more tunes, too.  

The final hours of recording were spent with my co-conspirator in this music project. J came over and quickly nailed her vocal parts. It amazes me that someone can record a song in one take. When I record my vocals, I sing the song over and over, hoping for that one miraculous version where my voice transforms into Sinatra. Of course, it doesn’t. When I play back the recording it’s still me. Cringe. So I do it again. And again. And again. Eventually, I tell myself that enough is enough. I’m sure the vocals sound pretty much the same every time, but that doesn’t stop me from trying to make it sound just a little bit better. 

Next step: I’ll mix the tunes and present them to some other musician friends. If we can work the songs into respectable shape, we might even head into the recording studio as a group. And start the recording process all over again.
