Red Room Where the Writers Are

I had a long drawn out conversation with a long time friend of mine last night. It was about the results that society has on the average every day Joe. We discussed how deep seeded certain rules society has placed on the average American really affects us in the long run. It's really quite phenomenal.

I recently discovered that laws for homosexual unions are thumbs up in the country of Iceland. I also recently discovered that apparently the thumbs up may be a go here in California as well. I have to take a step back and look at the society as a whole here and wonder why anyone would want to put their thumbs down to someone's happiness. People have been so taught by society that it is morally wrong for to people of the same gender to be in love and be considered as anything serious. How shameful society has become, to snub their noses upon such things. Take for instance the Romans, ancient, mind you. They were religious, they were raunchy, and they had so much homosexual love to share for others! Taking a look at culture now, we can see that society has caused so many people to shun this type of living.

Moving on...

Society and sex. Sex should be taught intelligently, not taught ignorantly. People of devout religion (not all, mind you) tend to hide sex, or the knowledge of sex, and teach their children to keep their sexual feelings dormant until marriage. Well what about divorce these days? How can one person be expected to have a successful marriage when they have only been in that relationship, and that is the only person they've slept with, and they've come to find out that person SUCKS in bed, and really was an awful pick. Society is no longer trying to educate children on sex, they are trying to shelter them. We are indeed animals, and as I recall, women were having children at the age of say 15 back in the days of old.

Society trys to conform us. Trys to pressure us all to think alike, to become robots. Where has all the personality in the world gone? I am not a robot. I pride myself in standing apart from the mob, I refuse to hold my torch and pitchfork against those who are attacked for being different. Society has become what is right and wrong. If the magazines say it's not cool, then it must be true. If the television tells us the sky is falling, then it must be falling!

I'm waiting for the people who think for themselves to learn to speak for themselves as well. Having an opinion is not a bad thing, it's a gift, for so many people barely have thoughts at all.
