Step two
I'm impressed. The people at Red Room really do pay attention. Almost immediately after I posted, Red Room's author liaison (Jennifer Massoni) contacted me about the 1969 problem. We spent nearly a half hour discussing Red Room, its plans, its connections to the non-profit world. Jennifer was wonderful, authentic, and truly helpful.
So often, the web can be deeply impersonal. My experience with Red Room was just the opposite: friendly, well-intentioned, and coming from the right place.
Also, as I see various elements of the page not quite in their proper places (the menu that begins Red Room Home, Authors...) blocks the type just to the right of the Red Room logo, and I notice other minor weirdnesses, I must remind myself of how difficult it is to complete a Beta version of a multi-featured website. So many things work well-- and this is all such a good idea-- it's good to see it all taking shape.
