The Force is strong in this one.

I am so in touch with my inner dork that when I go to grocery stores and approach the automatic doors, I pretend I am using The Force to open them, occasionally actually employing subtle Jedi hand gestures when I’m sure no one is looking.  And but so anyway, my nightly walk inevitably takes me by the Fremont Bridge, which is the most drawn bridge in the country or something, which is true.  The damn thing is goes up and down all day long.  I’m not sure what they were thinking when they built it, but they pretty much have to draw the thing up if a particularly tall person happens to swim under.  The cool thing is that when the bridge is being drawn up, there is none of the noise one might expect such a massive movement might make.  In fact, it is virtually silent.  Strikingly so.  So of course, when I’m in the right mood, I pretend that I’m lifting this huge-ass bridge because the The Force is strong in me.  And some nights, like tonight, when people happen to be jogging by, I’ll really go for it and throw both arms up and focus dramatically, like Charles Heston parting the Red Sea. Tonight, while keeping my arms raised, I turned around at a couple girls jogging by and said, “The power of the mind, bitches.  Bow down.”

But they just kept on jogging…I couldn’t tell if they were laughing or not.  So I put the bridge back down and came home.

Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.

I do the same thing. Staring intensely at traffic lights and willing them to change is a hoot as well. It actually gives you the illusion that you have some control over the world.

Most thoughtful of you to put the bridge back down before leaving. (:
