- Several days ago, a barefoot man with a huge dog (prints the size of my fist) came through the area where my "lost" ferts are residing in the forest and trampled the entire area completely -- so completely that not only were all other prints eradicated, it was not possible for any other animal to leave prints because the sand was so upturned. In a nutshell (to recap): Keiko has been in ...

- Almost as many people have suggested to me that my lost ferrets may be happier in the wild as those who say "Good luck" off-handedly (which of course nearly always means "I don't think you'll ever catch them!"). So this blog is addressed to those who -- perhaps hippies in an earlier era or perhaps members of the Gen-X group who seem to have mysteriously "found" ...

- At least one of my two lost ferrets and possibly both of them --- who (for those who have not followed the story) have been missing in a forest preserve now for about two months and whom I've been tracking daily -- has or have settled into one area of Loblolly Woods along Hogtown Creek and appear(s) to be staying there. This makes it possible for me to try to trap her/them.Previously, Keiko was ...

- I haven't updated in a few weeks because I had a severe allergic reaction -- probably to bug repellent. Who says DEET is safe? It looked like chemical burns all over my body and these then turned into massive hives. I looked like a red Swamp Monster! We've had the thermal imaging camera for two weeks and I've used it once, although I now have several people I've hired to help do night tracking, ...

- The Trip Back Down The mother raccoon who adopted Keiko was killed last weekend by a dog or coyote. I found "dancing" fert prints (showing fear or confrontation) near dog prints and signs of a scuffle (drag marks), and just below where I found the decaying racoon body. (I have not been able to get back there with a camera. Will try to do so today and post the pics here and/or on ...

- Part One: DeathLast night, my ex-husband's mother died. That, of course, is my daughters' paternal grandmother. She was Dutch; my daughters are dual Dutch-American citizens. Yesterday, I found a dead raccoon. Here's what I wrote the Habitat Naturalist for the Nature Operations Division of the park (his name is Geoffrey R. Parks!):<<Dear Geoff,Yesterday I found a dead raccoon on Hogtown ...

- Here's the latest in the now almost epic story of trying to recapture my ferrets. [June 6 update at bottom]Tonight we keep vigil on 8th Ave.Last week Keiko's prints went up Hogtown Creek north of 8th Ave., going out of the preserve. She trekked up there with the raccoons. (Hogtown Creek is the light blue squiggly line on this map that crosses 8th Ave. at NW 25th Terrace and goes along the north ...

- [See 5/26 updates underlined throughout and at bottom - rangers find us.] In the Face of TransformationWe are all cowards in the face of powerful transformation. Something out of our control. Something too big for us to grasp with our logical minds. We have to let go of our logic to grasp it, let go of our self-contained world, of our bodies even. It's like dying. It's like being reborn, but we ...

- [5/20 update at bottom] [5/19] Keiko was spotted tonight in the woods where I've been tracking her! Someone who joined a group I have formed to find Keiko walked into the woods at about 9:30PM and saw something crossing the path, shined his flashlight, saw her, and she ran back into the woods!! Of course, he could not identify her positively as Keiko. Probably only I can do that. He said she was ...

- All things are full of labor, man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. [Ecclesiastes 1:8]Could I make tongue say more than tongue could speak! [Thomas Wolfe][UPDATE 5/14 - SEE BOTTOM] "Looking for my ferret" -- those words are misleading. You cannot really LOOK FOR a missing pet of that size (8-10 inches long, weighing only a pound or ...

- (Updated 5/8) I have an amazing story to tell you.Last Saturday, May 2nd, over a month since Keiko disappeared, somebody called me to tell me that he had seen a dark-colored ferret running into a wildlife preserve that is about a mile or so from my house. This call has led to a remarkable discovery which I would like to share with you.One of our ferrets, Keiko (pronounced Kee-koh), escaped out ...

- Trauma is the big "monster under the bed" (as I wrote here in 2004). It's the elephant in the room that nobody wants to acknowledge. Nobody wants to talk about trauma.I've been writing and singing about trauma since I started writing and singing in the early 1970's. I performed my early songs at clubs in NYC (Folk City, The Bitter End) and in Santa Cruz, California. Those songs were ...

[Note this blurb only applies to the Black Hole CD songs (recorded in 1998), not to the Sand Songs CD (which were written 20 years before the Black Hole songs).] <<Puzzle Element Music is Jennifer on guitar & vocals. These songs are TRAUMA SURVIVOR SONGS.They are intended especially (but not exclusively) for those with PTSD, MPD, ...

- Yoo and Bybee, among others, were the authors of the so-called Torture Memos. See my article here. Scott Horton, whom I quote in that piece, talks about culpability of lawyers who give intentionally incorrect legal advice in order to facilitate a crime. Is this what Yoo and Bybee were doing? Back in the mid-1990's, when I was in law school, I worked at the Executive Office of Immigration Review ...

- My sweet little Keiko disappeared more than two weeks ago. My slow but sure perceptions of the subtle and subliminal have wreaked havoc on me. I am grief-and-guilt-stricken. There is pretty much nothing anyone can say or do to make me feel better -- nor do I even know if I want to feel better, because Keiko suffered alone and afraid. How can I allow myself to feel okay when I know she was ...
