Beautiful Book Space in Ann Arbor
Traveling to Michigan recently for the 43rd International Congress on Medieval Studies, I was invited to read at Common Language Books. What a treat. Martin Contreras and Keith Orr, inspiring entrepreneurs, own several buildings in a little enclave where the bar/restaurant, bookstore, and now performance space, all face a cobblestone square. Intimate, classy, top flight, comfortable. Gracious and intriguing men. And I'm thrilled to say that for the first time in 27 years of publishing fiction, our community has gotten easy-going enough (or maybe my writing has become a-sexual enough) that I felt comfortable inviting my 80 year old father and my devoted (age not-to-be-provided) sister to join me. My niece and her friend attended as well and we had a marvelous time. If you get a chance to get to Ann Arbor don't under any circumstances miss this adorable place, 317 Braun Court, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Call them at (734) 663-0036. Have dinner, drinks and an event.

Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor is a wonderful place. I grew up in Michigan and had many friends who attended UofM. The summers there are absolutely gorgeous if a bit humid. The next time I'm back in Michigan I'll have to check this place out.
