- Thank you, Armenian Odar (aka Myrthe), my wonderful blogger fan in Yerevan, who reads large stacks of books and reviews them with great insight. I'm so pleased you saw fit to mention my book again in your blog today.

- I'm thrilled that Lisa enjoyed the book. I'm very heartened by the obvious care and time she took over the review. I am very grateful for all the reviews the book has received, that people I don't know feel it's worth their time to read it and discuss it.It is becoming an increasing source of amusement to me that the one consistent quibble reviewers seem to have about WOTM is over the sex scene ...

- War on the Margins was reviewed in the Daily Mail a few weeks ago (not in their online version; the print review is reproduced here). I'm happy their reviewer liked it, but now I feel I need to take pains to disassociate myself from any perceived link to their columnist's homophobia. The book is selling well in Waterstone's, especially their Jersey store, which is very exciting. I have a ...

- The interview went very well; I was thrilled to be interviewed during Battle of Britain Week and to be sharing the stage with Louise Downie, Curator of Art at the Jersey Heritage archive, and author of "Don't Kiss Me; the Art of Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore." This link http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0021klz will allow readers to access the interview (dated "09/09/2009") ...

- This morning I taped an interview with Sara Palmer, host of The Morning Show on BBC Radio Jersey. It should be broadcast in the near future. Sara has a terrific oldies show, punctuated with interviews:http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0042rgw

- My book came out in the UK on Thursday, July 23. I've been a nervous wreck. I check the rankings on amazon.co.uk constantly, trying to remain mindful that it's also on sale in brick-and-mortar stores and other sites such as Tesco. It has garnered some good Web publicity, suich as this review by Simon Appleby of BookGeeks. It's all very exciting, though; it reminds me of when I was accepted to ...

- Amazon really blew it a few weeks ago when they removed hundreds (thousands?) of books' rankings. It seemed confined to books mentioning sex, even in a relatively tame way like mine. After weeks of complaining, my ranking is back on amazon.co.uk:#3,719,794. The only way now is up! The good news is, they discounted the price, guaranteeing it to those who preorder. My Japanese friends also ...

- Well, there is certainly no end to editing! My computer and Duckworth's, to quote my editor, "don't play well together," so it was rather stressful sending drafts back and forth and dealing with computer-generated hurdles (such as not being able to underline something). Now the copy editor has the ms. My husband's photo of me has drawn no end of derision, people saying I look ...

- This week I was signed by Duckworth Publishers in the UK, who bought my up-to-now independently-published book, War on the Margins. I am very excited about this! I'm just another poster child for the indie-published-to-large-publisher-published phenomenon. I did it without an agent!

- Well, the BookSurge woes are behind me at least for now. I have heard from a publisher! The funny thing is, I cannot find an agent. It seems that agents don't get "credit" for the book if there is already an interested publisher. Stay tuned.More reviews, including one good and one so-so from NothingBinding: ...

- I have now edited the Kindle version of War on the Margins, oh, three or four times; I've lost count! I am working on a second book that has just about nothing to do with the first book, about an obscure Dutch colony in what is now Delaware. At the end of May I pitched War on the Margins to the Jewish Book Network "Meet the Author" session in LA. I was about as nervous as I was in ...

- After two reviewers knocking off a star for editing, I finally got the message and, for the second time, edited the Amazon Kindle version of War on the Margins. The .html format of Kindl-ese does not take kindly to unorthodox spacing practices (like the double spacing between lines of dialogue that I happen to like) and turns curly, directional quotation marks to weird runes that obscure other ...
