Making Book Trailer Actually Fun--An Unexpected Surprise

In today's media saturated world, I knew a book trailer was a must for my new website. A daunting task, I thought. It turned out to be more fun than the time I taped a remote control fart machine to the bottom of a co-worker's chair at the Monday morning board meeting.
BTW, Dario, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. Really, I am.
Writing a short script, hunting down emotionally complementary music, casting an actor and stringing it all together was probably the best part of the whole book experience. I may quit writing and go into film making in my garage. Crap, I don't even have a garage.
By the time it was complete, I was a producer, director, casting agent, music director, and actor. Where else can a writer have this much fun in a three minute project?
If anyone else in on the book trailer fence, lean hard to the right, take the fall and land squarely on the sole's/soul's (your choice) of your inner film maker.

I absolutely loved it! I have a book trailer as well for a book that is not even published yet. Its on my profile http://www.redroom.com/video/youtube-one-more-day-booktrailer
My friends in Spain one a rock star and another a painter did this for me when I asked them if they would. I gave them full creative control and was very pleased with the results.
Now to finish editing the book!

Smokin'
Michael,
Thanks for the feedback. Your trailer is smokin' hot...sizzle, sizzle, pop!
I always wondered what you get when you cross a rock star and a painter. One More Day, I guess.
You say your book is not even finished yet. This must be a new trend. Book covers for two projects I just started are already finished. I added them to the 'Coming Next' page on my 'Author's' page. Why not get some traction on your wheels already in motion?
Do you think this is a trend? What else are you doing to promote your book at this stage.
I am a little curious about something in your trailer. Come on, did you really write this book with a pen? :) If you did, I've got to run out to my shed and find that dusty box of gold stars so I can stick one on your book.
Write on, Right on, write on.

Hey I really did and 10 more! See http://www.moleskinerie.com/2008/04/the-notebooks-o.html where I was featured for writing in a moleskine. I got a lot of comments from friends.
And to expand on writing these books, they happen to come into my head while writing in my journal and then for the next 6 to 8 weeks I write the story without skipping a beat. There was a period between 1999 and 2001 where this happened 11 times. I registered these books with the National Archives and received ISBN numbers as publisher when the digital was not even on their list__that's how I got the ISBN numbers.

A Bow and a Curtsey to You---I tried the moleskin but
I tried the moleskin, (It seemed so romantic)but couldn't read a damned word of what I wrote! I applaud your persistence and passion, but most of all, your neat handwriting.:)
The feeling of having a story spill out of your brain, travel down you neck and into your arms--dripping from fingers and onto a page, is euphoric. Cathartic. Pure pleasure.
I do love the photos of your journals and accompanying drawings. There is something in the art of that process yet to be discovered. I can feel it, keep at it.
I hearby gift you 10 gold stars!

OOOOOOooooooo! Wow! I am speechless! Thank you Leslie.
Yes to seeing you__we'll do it at Mont Tremblant 15 minutes from where I live at one of the cafes there.
Now all I need to do is get down to finising book one. [smile]
