Meanwhile
While I´m writing this blog, getting ready to go to bed (Mon 9:48 p.m.), Mary is already sleeping, I suppose (Tue 1:48 a.m.), and Farzana is waking up, if she´s an early bird (Tue 6:18 a.m.), but Keiko has probably had breakfast and gone to the grocery store to buy coffee (vaccuum - packed :-D) ( Tue 9:48). Oh, I suspect Ellen hasn´t had dinner yet (Mon 5:48 p.m.).
And still, we seem to be all in the same time zone at Red Room.
This is what this song is about. About being in different places and time zones, but together in the same humanity.
Enquanto isso
anoitece em certas regiões
E se pudéssemos
ter a velocidade para ver tudo
assistiríamos tudo
A madrugada perto
da noite escurecendo
ao lado do entardecer
a tarde inteira
logo após o almoço
O meio-dia acontecendo em pleno sol
seguido da manhã que correu
desde muito cedo
e que só viram
os que levantaram para trabalhar
no alvorecer que foi surgindo
Meanwhile
Meanwhile night falls
into regions
and if we could just see faster
we could watch everything
Dawn is next to night
and getting darker
and all the afternoons
are falling, falling
and then just after lunch
Noon rose into full sunlight
And then another morning
running early
seen only by those who rose
in time to work.

Mary Wilkinson says:
I am just waking up Luciana
I am just waking up Luciana and what lovely words to greet my day.
Keiko Amano says:
I will be sleeping soon
You're smart, Luciana. You knew exactly what I would do!
Your words made me giggle. I love the poem. Thank you.
Luciana Lhullier says:
Hello, ladies!
And still Mary, when I woke up you two were already there, greeting my day! And Keiko, I could smell the coffee! :-)
Ellen R. Sheeley says:

And I am just getting with the program!
You were right, Luciana, I hadn't yet had dinner. Was attending a meeting at a club to which I belong. Didn't return until after 8 pm, so grabbed a quick bite then.
Despite its many downsides, one truly lovely thing about the Internet is that it can bring people from diverse backgrounds and varying time zones together.

Ellen, whenever there is a discussion about the legitimacy of friendships through the Internet, or about the communities, I always think of 84, Charing Cross Road. A beautiful story, and one of the best movies ever.

I'm Anne Bancroft sans specs but with silly hat!
Sue Glasco says:
Very nice song for our global village
Thanks, Luciana, for helping us participate in one world and seeing things a little faster. This broader vision is fascinating, isn't it?
I figure there is a website that tell us what the clock says in various place around the world. I have been meaning to google. Can you direct me--or were you smart enough to figure all these times out by yourself?
Luciana Lhullier says:
No, Sue, I checked them out
No, Sue, I checked them out at a website:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
Although I´m used to think what time it should be in the Pacific Northwest/California region (I have friends and family there and don´t want to call them in inappropriate times), I´m not so fast to figure out the other time zones in the world. I always have to check.
Hope that sting is not hurting you.:-)
Sue Glasco says:
Appreciate the link!
I was needing this for VBS for next week. We only had our VBS date set a couple weeks ago, and prep time has been much too short. My room is supposed to be a Communication Bay for a satellite with clocks on the wall for various spots on earth. I was hoping I could be accurate. Now I can. (I could barely believe your blog when I read it! How conventient. Maybe you writing was Heaven sent.) Book said we could use paper plate clocks, but I am hoping I can find some real ones cheap at Wal-Mart tomorrow. I realized tomorrow was a holiday and panicked--but phoned Wal-Mart and they said they are open 24/7 except on Christmas Day. I am not a Wal-Mart fan, but I must admit I am grateful this time.

Glad I could help, even without being aware of it at first! :-)
Hope your project works fine, Sue!
Farzana Versey says:

Is it possible to be an early beast instead of an early bird? I just saw this now...which means we aren't only in different time zones but days apart, too! And yet we connect here...
So, thanks Luciana, for remembering my wakey-wakey.
