Poetry and Sex Education
When I typed in "Poetry Education," "Sex Education" came up. I like that. Might attract more readers to the genre.
It's a shame that so many people have a bias against poetry. Stems most likely from grade school or middle school where the teachers hammered out iambs on the desk with a shoe, like Krushchev. And you, poor idiot, felt like you were the only one who couldn't hear it. Then there came the dreaded discussion of symbols, where the teacher said, "Let's take it apart." The poem became a barometer of stupidity (yours!)
I'd love to do some workshops on losing the "Fear." We would immerse ourselves in the gorgeous sounds of poems. We'd let the music enter us. That's where my first love began, with poetry. And that taking in of the poem is sensual--if not sex education, sense education! mk

I really enjoyed your "Sit & Spin" in a recent Knoxville Voice. Your enthusiasm is infectious and your knowledge is wonderous.

Thanks for this comment, too, Debra! Eric Dawson, the fellow who did the Sit and Spin article, was a former poetry student! Good to see him succeed in his field.
All cheers to you, Marilyn
