The Rabbi's Blessing for Safe Travel
Within minutes of asking Rabbi Beth Schwartz for a travel blessing, she responded with this beautiful prayer. I will tuck it in my bag:
Yehi ratson milfanecha, Adonai. May it be your will, Eternal our God, and God of our ancesters who traveled so many paths, to guide Marilyn in peace. May her journey be safe and smooth, and may she arrive happy and content. Protect her from every danger and difficulty. May she enjoy the grace, lovingkindness and hospitality that is offered to her, may her sojourn be productive and satisfying, and may her return be safe and full of joy. Praise are You, Eternal One, who hears our prayers.
The beauty and power of that prayer made me cry!

Marilyn Kallet says:
Thank you, Chere Kunzang!
And of course, coming from you, the blessing doubles!
I hope your generous words bless you back, like gentle rain!
Thanks again--

Marilyn,
have a wonderful trip, or "tirthayatra" (if you're speaking Sanskrit). It's a phrase meaning "journeying to a holy place" and such a trip is always preceded by fasting and sexual continence.I'm just sayin'...
