where the writers are

Marilyn Kallet I'm a poet and children's book author, translator and essayist.

Will I Meet Red Roomers in the Bay Area?

October 17, 2009, 11:19 am

I'm excited about performing poems at Diesel Books in Oakland, 3 p.m., Sunday, November 8th.   I'll see old friends and hope to meet some online friends--just as "real"--at the bookstore event.   There must be a good bar nearby where we can toast each other's health and writing.   It would be great to meet in person!

The November 6th reading at the Art Institute of California in Union Square is not open to the public, alas.   But my host, Alice Templeton, says she can get passes for anyone who wants to come.   So if you're interested in that event, I'll ask Alice for passes and let you know how to get them.

I'm looking forward to all of it, as well as eating some good vegetarian food.  The options in Knoxville are somewhat limited when one is eating out.  (Tomato Head is good, and Veg-o-rama, but otherwise the city is better known for its barbeque!)

All cheers and looking forward--Marilyn

It's on the schedule, but I have to admit to a day trip to LA the day before and potential exhaustion. But I am optimistic from here that I can cruise on down the street to see you.

Best,

See how it goes--

J, I love it that you put the event on your schedule, thanks! Just play it as it goes, don't push yourself if you're tired. With all the flu and crap going on, it's best to err on the side of being rested.

I'd love to meet you of course--your photo shows you to be illuminated, and your words have that glow, too.

Cheers, rock on, M

Fabulous!

Wishing you the very best for the event, as always! It sounds like it's going to *so* much fun. :)

Thanks, buddy!

Hope so--it will be fun for sure, and an adventure.

Surely our paths will cross one of these days.  In which city are you and Gina living?

Ryoma Collia-Suzuki

Ryoma Collia-Suzuki says:

You know, Marilyn

I have no doubt that one day we will meet! I don't know how, but I really think it will happen one day. :)

Gina and myself live in a town called Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset, UK. It's about 15-20 miles south of Bristol on the west coast of England.

I love adventures and I love it when others have adventures too. You'll have to blog in detail about the event!

So Far Away from California! And yet--

It's a miracle the way words connect us!

I know where we'll meet!  France!  (I can dream, yes?)  Hugs to Ms. Gina!

Wonderful, isn't it? Oh yes indeed. :)

France is a possibility one day, imho, although it is more likely to be Paris than Auvillar as a poetry heathen like me is more than likely to cause mass destruction at your workshop. LOL!

Yes, one day we might meet at Les Deux Magots, where the likes of Hemingway and Satre have supped coffee whilst debating whatever they were debating at the time! Hehe.

There's even a Vuitton around the corner, just in case a shoe explodes!

Marilyn Kallet says:

Vuitton? I'm there!

O yes!

The writing workshop in Auvillar does invite trailing spouses--much cheaper than paying the full freight. You get to take the afternoon French cooking and photography workshops.

Just saying-- :)

Tempting, but I know I would be very much happier in a cafe having a lovely chat and a cup of coffee. One day I hope!

Mais oui!

Hope for sooner rather than later!  Cheers--
