The Land is full of Ambering
Amber Sumac Tree gives way to Amber light that fills the dining room with a golden glow, as I slice up Amber yams for dinner, that become wedges of promise, drizzled in Amber oil. Amber ring on my middle finger casts a gentle hand over the Amber hair on my dogs head. The traffic light tells me to proceed with caution, Amber, be on the Alert. Amber dahlias wilt in a blue jug where Amber tints of paint grace an old blanket that covers the Amber wood. The Fuchsia hedge turns Amber as the days conspire to Winter. The land is full of Ambering. The heather and grass turn a distinct shade of Amber, a soft, bent, cast downward glance kind of Amber. The cows are Amber too, in their rambling, their graze is limited, their movement confined. I put on sunglasses that cast a permanent Amber glow on what I see. All is softened, nothing is harsh. I refuse to take them off. I walk down aisles that normally appear a glaring white and all I see is Amber, a woman in Amber stockings puts Amber cookies into her basket and smiles, her teeth stained with gold, her lips a new shade of Fall, her apples plunging downward, she walks with an air of descent into a world where all is doomed, where Amber only means another step into demise, two seconds before the rot sets in.

I love this, Mary.
Please forgive a question from an uneducated heathen, but what does the following sentence mean please?
"she walks with an air of descent into a world where all is doomed, where Amber only means another step into demise, two seconds before the rot sets in."

To be perfectly honest, I am not 100 percent sure, it just came right out of me, from the dark corners. There is certainly an existential feel to it though and if truth be told my life is lived that way..........

To, Amber Lady.
Amber is considered as a color of wisdom and devotion. Here I gift you two pics of wonderful Amber color.
Mary Wilkinson says:
Oh Jitu, they are beautiful,
Oh Jitu, they are beautiful, thank you. I cannot believe the photograph of the Sumac Tree. I attempted to photograph our Sumac yesterday but failed, it just did not seem to convey how it looked to me. But you did and it looks just like the one we have. You are very sweet. Thank you again! I did not know amber meant wisdom and devotion, that makes it all the more special. Best, Amber Lady!

Mares, I love amber. Some
Mares,
I love amber. Some are yellowish and others, reddish, right? I like the meaning: wisdom and devotion. That’s even better.
About the part Ryoma asked, I took it as autumn began, and colorless winter would follow. I felt it dramatic thinking about winter.
Jitu,
Your photos are beautiful. Autumn is here.

Keiko! Hi! I hope you are
Keiko! Hi! I hope you are well. Thanks for reading this ambering piece! I am happy you interpreted it as you saw fit. That's it about writing, isn't it, we all take something different away each time! Mares

Mary, thank you for your
Mary, thank you for your explanation. It makes sense to me now, and Keiko, your interpretation just clicked with me, thanks. Yes, I can see it as a way of describing the transition from Autumn to Winter. Fabulous.

Amber
A beautiful and interesting piece, Mary. As someone who is particularly fond of amber, I was following your prose with great delight-- then it was a bit like you pulled the rug out from under my feet with the last few words ("where Amber only means another step etc..."). But in essence, that is what autumn is all about, isn't it? A blaze of great beauty, then suddenly, the bare branches.
Mary Wilkinson says:
Lisa, yes, the bare branches
Lisa, yes, the bare branches and then, after that, we have to look a little deeper, delve for what is not so obvious. Lovely to see you here and learn that you are an Amber fan. M
