Longtimeno
I have a habit of subjecting (that is, giving them the subject, not performing anything unto them) emails with "longtimeno" if I've been negligent in sending a reply for more than... a couple of week or so, I couldn't give you the exact scientific deadline as to when something falls into that "longtimeno" category for me, it's more of a feeling. Something to sic the sabremetricians on, for sure.
And I've been sending out a lot of those lately. Because we just picked up and moved back across country, away from Massachusetts and New England, which I miss a ton, of course, to the perpetually sunny Silicon Valley.
But that's an excuse. It's a rallying cry heard across blog after blog after blog: "Sorry, I've been too busy to post, but I'll post this quickie, apologizing for it, and then ignore the site again for a few more months, feel bad for some reason or another, and write another quick apology post, with then leads to..." you get how it goes.
And this would be great if I were being extremely prolific and churning out story after story about the Red Sox, their fans, their players, and all that sort of stuff I seem to write about. If that were the case I wouldn't mind the apologies so much, wouldn't feel so sheepish about the "longtimeno" missives. But no, we've been moving and settling in for the better part of four to six months.
But now that we're settled, and I'm slowly figuring out Pacific time writing hours, how to avoid dying in an earthquake, not to even bother watching the weather report (and have thrown out every pair of pants and shirts with long sleeves I own), and avoiding the teeming masses of hippies waiting to hug you at every turn and shaking out all these damn shards of flowers I've got sticking out of my hair, I'll hopefully be sending longtimeno messages because I'm busy writing my... whatever it is you write about, out here.
