Seriously? Hypermiling? Really?

I Disapprove
I Disapprove

Much like me, this rabbit disapproves of the selection of "hypermiling" to be the "Word of the Year" by the "New Oxford American Dictionary."

Quick poll: Am I the only person who had maybe heard of the word once before, if that?

Now I know it's easy to be a critic and not offer a better alternatve, but I'm hoping for better suggestions from our community than "hypermiling." (Or at the very least, a spirited defense.)

Any takers?

'Hypofuelling' sounds a little more apposite and less paranoid, don't you think?

Well...

...I just had to ask our intrepid blogger what this word even means, so I'd have to say to the NOAD: FAIL.

Hypermiling the word of the year? they've GOT to be joking...

Wouldn't you know it...the word of the year would have something to do with gasoline...siggh..

I'm seriously thinking, now, about changing my native language...that's  not only ridiculous, it's embarrassing.....and a bit depressing.
