adaptation
Karen Moncrieff has signed on with Newmarket Films and Andrew Lauren Productions to direct the film adaptation of THE YEAR OF FOG.
I was delighted to hear the news, as I loved Moncrieff's 2002 Sundance hit BLUE CAR. You may also remember Moncrieff from her moody 2006 feature film THE DEAD GIRL, starring Toni Collette, which was nominated for several Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Feature and Best Director.
This is shaping up to be a real girl-power sort of project--am I allowed to say "girl power" when we're all in our thirties and forties? at what age does girl power officially become woman power?--with Semi Chellas writing the adapation, P. Jennifer Dana producing, and Moncrieff directing. Not to mention that there will be a female lead. Hopefully I'll be able to post on just who that lead will be within the next few months...crossing my fingers that a SAG strike will be avoided, or at the very least short-lived.
Quick question for fellow authors: who would you want to cast as the main character in a film adaptation of your novel?
